The Dream
I sat under the moonlight, in the distance I could hear the thunder booming. I wanted to move, I wanted to flee while I had the chance. I tried to stand but my limp body would not move. The sound of thunder was getting closer and the grass started swaying in the cool breeze. Only a few minutes later the gentle breeze transformed into a fierce wind; there was no turning back now, my fate was already set. Suddenly it all let loose, the flood gates opened. Rain pelted down and lightning struck all around me, the moon finally slipped away behind the clouds. I knew this was just the beginning, and it would only get worse. Again, I tried to stand, this time the grass let go of my and I was free. I was in a flowing white dress that sparkled like the stars. On my head I had a gleaming silver crown embedded with jewels. I looked up at the sky, it had become all black. I could see not one glistening star in the sky. I exhaled the breath I found I had been holding and gracefully walked over to the willow tree. Gently, I sat down, ready to face my doom. I sat there, motionless, until I started to fidget. I looked up and saw a giant haze of smoke, the smoke came from nowhere. I gulped then yelled “Is this it? Is this my doom that I have been waiting for?!” For one moment everything went silent, and then I heard a roar. After the roar came a terrifying voice “Are you no afraid, you MEANINGLESS THING? Well then…” Insulted and nervous, I stood there trembling. Then, before I had time to run, the smoke devoured me. I coughed and gasped for air but I was fruitless, then everything went black. When I came back to my senses, I was in the middle of a field; nothing was in sight except a big willow tree. The willow sat there peacefully, swaying in the wind. Out of nowhere a hawk soared past; the hawk was on fire and leaving ashes wherever he flew. The burning bird flew right into the magnificent tree; in seconds the entire tree was ablaze. I stood there, eyes glued to the scene. Why did the bird do that? Did it mean to? I stood there confused when the hawk started flying straight at me. I had no time to move, it hit me dead on, making me unconscious. The black abyss only lasted seconds, quickly I was jolted awake when i stopped falling and hit the ground. When I opened my eyes I was sitting in a dark corner of a room. It was too dark for me to see, I could only hear the scurrying of mice. A sudden shudder ran through me, I wrapped my slender arms around myself. Suddenly I was drenched in frigid water; my clothes clung to my skin. Shaking with fear- I started to cry. The sound of screams were all around me, in the distance I could detect the roar of lions. Out of nowhere, a dark figure came towards me. It had flames enveloping it and a dastardly smile. The small eyes of the figure watched me intensely and when it spoke, thousands of shrieks came out of its mouth. It kept repeating one word with an evil smile playing across its face “come” Paralyzed, I watched the figure come closer and closer towards me. When the figure came face to face with me, there was a flash of light in the room. In the middle of the room was a giant willow tree. Under the tree was a man dressed in white and was glowing radiantly. “Leave, you hated one!!!!” the man said forcefully. Instantly the figure vanished along with the man. Now I was alone in the room, everything was silent. I looked around and noticed the willow tree was still there. I started climbing the tree when suddenly everything started fading away. Surprisingly, I was now in the sky siting on a cloud. The soft cloud started floating down to earth. I was about to touch the luscious, green grass when I was jolted awake. I sat up in bed, trembling. Sweat poured down my face as I got up to get a drink of water. Silently, I made my way to the window. There in my back yard was a willow tree, swaying in the wind. I wondered to myself, how did that get there? I shook my head and smiled, it was only a dream, right?
